Beijing Trip

These little guys guard your house. The more of them there are on your roof, the more important your house is. This is one of the Emperor's buildings in the Forbidden City.

Here's the Forbidden City inside.

There are probably three of four gates you have to go through before you reach

the inner inner part where the Emperor lived.

The Emperor's Summer Palace... we rode this boat across the lake.











This toilet got a rating of four stars...

I think it was a little overrated. :o)

One hour foot massages

in a back alley for 12 bucks

Other interesting experiences...

1) Greenbean popsicles

2) Peking duck

3) Toilets where you stand up and squat

4) Waiting on the bus for an hour while a dignitary from Mexico tours the Great Wall

5) Haggling for a painting... got him down to 5 from 60. :o) Daddy would be proud of me.

6) Not being allowed to throw my TP in the toilet... wow. That takes some getting used to.

7) 110 degree weather with high humidity

8) Spending the night in a sleeper car from Beijing to Wuhan

Also, I started teaching today, and my students are soooo cute!
